Placing a Hold on a Book

1 min read 12 views

If the book you want is currently borrowed by someone else, you can place a hold.

  1. Search for the book in the Library Catalog.
  2. Click on the book to see its details.
  3. Click Place Hold.
  4. The system will let you know if the hold was placed successfully.

What happens next:

  • When the book is returned by the current borrower, it will be set aside for you.
  • You will get a notification (by email or in the system) that the book is ready for pickup.
  • You usually have 3 days to pick up the book before the hold expires.

What you'll see: The hold appears in your My Holds page with its current status.

If something goes wrong:

  • "Duplicate hold" -- You already have a hold on this book. Check your My Holds page.
  • "You are blocked" -- You have overdue books or unpaid fines. Clear those first.
