Setting Up Self-Checkout Kiosks

If your library has self-checkout kiosks, you can manage them here.
- Click Kiosks in the sidebar menu.
- Register each kiosk with its details.
- The system monitors whether each kiosk is online (it checks every 5 minutes).
How students use the kiosk:
- The kiosk shows a login screen.
- The student scans their student barcode or types their ID number.
- The student enters their 4-digit PIN.
- The screen shows a welcome message with the student's name and their current loans.
- The student chooses one of two options:
- Checkout -- to borrow a book
- Return -- to return a book
- For checkout: The student scans the book's barcode. The screen shows the book title and due date.
- For return: The student scans the book's barcode. The screen confirms the return.
- The student can view their current loans at any time from the menu.
- When done, the student taps Logout to return to the login screen.
The kiosk applies the same borrowing rules as the librarian's desk -- loan limits, blocking for overdue items, and fine calculations all work the same way.
Kiosk setup tips:
- Place the kiosk near the library entrance or exit for easy access.
- Make sure the barcode scanner is connected and working.
- The kiosk needs a stable internet connection at all times.
- Test the kiosk with a sample student account before making it available.
