Creating Collections/Lists
You can create special collections like "Staff Picks" or "Curriculum Reading" to help students discover books.
- Go to the Curator page in the sidebar.
- Create a new collection and give it a name.
- Add books to the collection.
- Collections appear in the library catalog (OPAC) for students and teachers to browse.
Running Stocktaking
Stocktaking helps you check which books are actually on your shelves versus what the system says should be there.
- Click Stocktaking in the sidebar menu.
- (Optional) Select a specific shelf to audit. If you skip this, the system won't check for misplaced books.
- Use a barcode scanner (or type barcodes manually) to scan each book on the shelf.
- As you scan, the system shows:
- Green -- Book found and on the correct shelf
- Yellow -- Book found but belongs to a different shelf (misplaced)
- Red -- Barcode not found in the system (unexpected item)
- Don't worry about scanning the same book twice -- duplicates are ignored.
- When you finish scanning, click Generate Report.
What you'll see: A report with three sections:
- Missing -- Books that should be on this shelf but were not scanned
- Misplaced -- Books that were scanned but belong on a different shelf
- Unexpected -- Barcodes that the system does not recognize
Use this report to find missing books, move misplaced books to the right shelf, and investigate unknown items.
Weeding (Removing Old Books)
Weeding is the process of removing books that are old, damaged, or no longer used.
- Go to the Weeding Report in the sidebar.
- The system shows recommendations based on each book's age, condition, and how often it has been borrowed.
- Review the list and decide which books to remove from the collection.
